WE ARE THERE FOR YOU

We are sometimes asked questions. That is why we have grouped together the most frequently asked ones for you.

Frequently asked questions
  • Order online
  • For florists
  • Our flowers and their packaging
  • Can I buy flowers as a private individual?

No, unfortunately you cannot approach us directly that way. Instead, ask for our flowers from your favourite florist. They are experienced experts and our best ambassadors.

  • What are the delivery options?

We can deliver your order ourselves, you can pick it up or we can arrange group transport. We are happy to talk through the options with you, and together we can find which option is best suited to your needs.

  • Do you always have the same offer?

We are able to fully adapt our assortment in line with demand on the market. We know what is popular in the various countries and have a good nose for trends. In addition, we are always mindful of professional quality standards and a good lifespan.

  • Are your flowers available throughout the year?

Absolutely! Thanks to the most modern growing techniques, our plants continually produce flowers. Each year, we do however replace some of our plants to be able to guarantee the best possible quality.

  • What flowers are in stock?

In our webshop, you can view our current product offer. You can order flowers online that are still on our plants. Every morning, flowers are offered that will be picked the same day.

  • How can I place an order?

You can place an order with your favourite wholesaler, flower truck, Euro auction or directly with us. Our webshop is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Do you know exactly where you can find our flowers? Feel free to contact us!

  • Can you give us any tips for making the most beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements?

Of course! We spend a lot of time with our flowers and we know them inside out. We are happy to inspire you here via our website or social media channels (Instagram & Facebook).

  • How should gerberas best be used?

Gerberas have many potential uses and because we have so many different varieties in our range, we have a perfect match for every occasion.

On their own: in small vases, it is always good as a table decoration (possibly to be combined with a few other flowers). Be sure to also try a little pastini or piccolini for an original effect.

Opt for a mono-bouquet to achieve a stunning effect in 1 colour or plump for “total loss” instead with an eclectic mix of only gerberas.

A gerbera is often rather a peaceful oasis in an exuberant bouquet thanks to its simple shape. For this application, choose a neutral colour.

The gerbera lends itself perfectly to needlework, but make sure you puncture properly first and cut it neatly

Rather classic or trendy, which means they are also very much at home in floral decorative pieces.

For bridal arrangements, the piccolini is the best choice due to its size and cuteness factor, but its colleagues the germini, pomponi and pastini are also second to none. The immense range of colours will astonish the bride.

  • Does a gerbera continue to grow?

A gerbera grows a little more each day. Remember that when you want to use it in a bouquet. In addition, it always grows away from the centre of the Earth. The flower will always stand upright when you place it horizontally. Bent flowers will straighten up perfectly again after cutting and being placed in an upright vase.

  • Do I need to put gerberas on a wire?

It used to be the norm, but as a result of years of research and breeding (read improvement) we always select based on enhanced robustness and lifespan. Iron wire will only cause your flower unnecessary damage. It is only acceptable if the flower needs to maintain a certain curve in an arrangement.

  • What is the ideal temperature at which they should be kept?

Flowers should be kept at a consistent temperature. Sharp temperature fluctuations in the freshness chain can lead to condensation forming on the flower. At some times of year, this can lead to top rot or brown patches. Humid and relatively hot weather require additional attention. Refrigeration of around 10 to 15°C is ideal.

  • How long does a gerbera keep?

As we invest in high quality cultivation for our gerberas, they last for at least 14 to 20 days.

  • What types of packaging are available?

Our sustainable Diamond packaging guarantees that our flowers reach the wholesaler and retailer in prime condition. However, for certain situations sleeve packaging is a better alternative. This means that we always consider which is the solution best suited to each occasion.

  • Do you breed varieties yourself?

We do not breed ourselves, as that is a separate field. However, we do grow up the plantlets so that they will quickly feel at home with us. We also keep our finger to the pulse as regards the latest interesting varieties from the various breeders, which means that you are always sure to find the most up-to-date range!

  • How many colours are there?

Gerberas are not called the happy flower for no reason… The various varieties are therefore available in countless colours and shades. In one, two or more colours with light or dark cores constitute the basis for a terrific flower range in your shop. Only a genuinely blue or black gerbera is still not available at this time.

  • Why such a wide range?

Ever since we first began, we have always believed that every florist must be able to make his or her favourite choice. Tastes differ: tone on tone or bubbly. In addition, tastes also vary from country to country. We select new varieties based on lifespan and quality. Trendsetting colours and shapes are also given a platform with us. The choice is yours...

  • How many flowers do you grow each year?

A lot… We have a cultivation site of 21,600m2. Each year, it produces over 10 million flowers!

  • How many varieties of flowers do you distribute?

At Bloemen Dens we have over 100 varieties of gerberas, germinis, piccolinis, pomponis, spiders and pastinis. You can find our current range in our webshop!

ANY MORE QUESTIONS?

We can answer them for you

Questions are there to be asked. Although we don’t claim to be a fountain of wisdom – we do however know a lot about flowers – we will always try and come up with an answer. Contact us via the form below, call us or come for a nice cup of coffee.

    On stage ...

Let you play the gerbera the shining starring role or rather an extra role...

Actually he is an egotripper of size, but in combination with other flowers he will rather form a resting point because of his size.  Our eye wants to find a solid base in the mishmash of colours and shapes.

    Choose your hero!

    /

    Gerbera

The large-headed gerbera is a splash of colour that is suitable for all occasions.

This classic among classics is quite rightly the eye-catcher in every bouquet. It commands respect through its large diameter and is relaxing on the eye. This colourful flower certainly deserves its place both in a classic composition and in a trendy wild bouquet. We also make sure that its beautiful leaves are always nicely in the fold, so that they are able to shine through in your arrangements.

Gerberas are categorised by shape and appearance. The dark and light cores largely determine their character - from charmer and self-obsessed to tough madam and teddy bear.

    Rather traditional

This is a great compliment for the large-flowered gerbera.

He does not allow himself to be swayed by the coming and going trends and does his duty conscientiously.

In the first place very grateful in classic mourning, but equally useful for grand event decorations.

    Germini

The germini is the little sister of the large-headed gerbera and one of the showpieces of our range.

Since the very beginning, we have strived to have a large assortment of germinis. Alongside the classics that are not to be sneezed at, we also give the very newest and most promising varieties a clear platform. In this way, wholesalers continually expand their range and they arouse the curiosity of their customers.

Germinis are ideal for mixed bouquets, but can also be used in mono-bouquets. Sooner or later, everyone will be seduced by the charms of the always fresh-looking and colourful germinis. Available in one, two or more colours…  Let them win your heart! Speaking of hearts, our germinis even have a fresh yellow-green or velvet black heart (or core).

    /
  • / /

    Pomponi

With its elegant round shapes, the pomponi is a guaranteed hit in every arrangement.

Pomponis stand out due to their spherical shape. Their cores are hidden away behind an additional quantity of leaves. In a modest and pleasant manner, they give extra texture and depth to every arrangement.

With their bubbly colour, they are a real visual treat and also have extreme cuddleability. They are therefore without doubt a chart-topper in the extensive range of the Dens family!

    /
  • / /

    Pastini

The pastini rolls nicely off the tongue, rather like the curl of its colourful leaves.

This relatively new species is rapidly conquering the hearts of many a florist. This is logical enough, since it is without precedent in the world of the gerbera. With its vibrant colours and distinctive curls, pastinis are a joy to behold. We also have a whole series of exclusive house varieties.

With a pastini you will - almost literally - bring the sun into your home; the curly leaves are virtually indistinguishable from the sun's rays themselves. And shining is certainly something that this stylish flower will do!

    /
  • / /

    Spider

The spider is the plucky bird among the gerberas, and gives every bouquet a healthy injection of spirit.

With its prickly leaves and a hint of wildness, perhaps a little irritable, but in actual fact it is no less cuddly than other gerbera types. It has something of the “bad girl” look, but with a heart of gingerbread. And the velvety core of the flower itself also looks insanely beautiful!

The spider immediately catches the eye. And its wildly cropped leaves allow for a wide range of applications, above all in wild, trendy bouquets. It also flourishes in the presence of other flowers and has quickly become a trendsetter as an unmissable element in every arrangement that could use a little backbone.

    /
  • / /

    Piccolini

The tiny piccolini is very sweet, charming and a versatile companion to any imaginative florist.

The piccolini - meaning “little ones” in Italian - is certainly worthy of its name. Small in stature but not in deeds, this flower will not disappoint. That is what makes this little sweetheart the cutest shoot at Bloemen Dens.

Since a short stature also offers such a large number of possibilities, the piccolini is extremely versatile. It provides class and finesse as a table decoration and for small flower arrangements. Why not also try it as a stunning bridal bouquet or corsage? It is the trusty ally of many a creative florist who appreciates its long life!
